Smoke & Roses Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I downloaded this not sure what to expect, but was quickly swept up in the author's description of her heronie's large and boisterous family. In addition, as a native from San Diego, California, where the story takes place, I loved the historical detail and descriptions of the region. Forzano deftly manages what could be troubling subject matter, and I was partiularly heartened to read about a tough, female heroine who's a little older. Perhaps the author is taking a cue from the emergence of TV shows such as The Closer, Damages, and Saving Grace, all of which feature female leads who are in "mid-life". I'll be interested to see what Forzano does next.
