I won't go into a detailed synopsis of the plot; that is easy to find in another review on this site. What I will do is tell you that Dymmoch has, once again, written a book well worth reading. The plot is very good, believable, could happen to you or yours. The characters are strong; these are people I can see in my own life, whose actions I find convincing. This is more a novel of suspense than of mystery - is John Devlin a good guy or a bad guy? Are his intentions good or bad? One does know the answer by the end of the book, and yet not until the very end. If I have any beef at all with M.I.A., it's that the ending is too tidy and life isn't always that way. But once in a while, things do work out and so even that is a very minor beef...certainly not one that would keep me from recommending this book to those who want something more than a bit-o-fluff in their hands.
